It is regarded as the balcony of Pelion. It is easy to understand why, when visiting the central square. The view is as far as the eye can see.
Makrinitsa is set in picturesque surroundings it lies on a beautiful slope with hills surrounding it. This village complex is particularly recognised for its architectural style as well as the other villages around. Apart from the scenic pleasures there is warmth from the local people who are courteous and friendly.
Makrinitsa also preserves remarkable historical memories such as the old and famous custom of May's -a series of reproductive presentation which originated in ancient Dionisian ceremonies. If you are lucky enough to be in Makrinitsa during the «Mays» days you can enjoy yourself by taking part in those traditional celebrations.
